Preneed & Pre-Licensing Course Frequently Asked Questions
1) Who needs to take the Preneed Course?
Anyone who would like fulfill their CE requirements as a licensed funeral director or a licensed insurance agent.
2) Who needs to take the Pre-Licensing Course?
Anyone who wants to sit for their Wisconsin Life Insurance agent exam to sell Preneed Insurance. You must be a licensed insurance agent to sell Preneed Insurance. This is the course you must take before your take Wisconsin Life Insurance agent exam. This course will also fulfill your funeral director's CE requirements for the biennium.
Following FAQ's apply to both the Preneed AND Pre-Licensing Courses:
3) What if I just want the credits for renewal?
You can attend the Preneed Course, even if only for continuing education credits. You are not required to sit for the Wisconsin Life Insurance agent upon completion of this course.
4) What credits will I receive by completing the Preneed course?
Insurance = 24 hours OCI continuing education credits. This includes the 4 hours of ethics.
Funeral Director Credits = 20 continuing education credits. The credits cover all 4 categories for the biennium.
Category 1 – 4 credits
Category 2 – 8 credits
Category 3 – 5 credits
Category 4 – 3 credits
5) What credits will I receive by completing the Pre-Licensing course?
Insurance = 24 hours OCI continuing education credits. This includes the 4 hours of ethics. Eligibility to sit for the WI Insurance Exam.
Funeral Director Credits = 20 continuing education credits. The credits cover all 4 categories for the biennium.

6) Do you have to be a member of WFDA to register?
No. Registration is available to anyone, including: WFDA members, non-members, independent insurance agents, people not yet registered with a funeral home, etc.
7) How much does it cost?
Cost is $289.00 for WFDA members and $400 for nonmembers.
8) Do I have to be there for both days?
9) What is the dress?
Dress is business casual.
10) What about lunch?
Lunch is on your own. There will be a one hour break on both days for lunch.
11) How do I register?

12) What if I can’t make it?
We understand funeral directors schedules. Refunds will be issued.
13) Where can I stay?
WFDA does not contract rates or hold blocks for these courses.
